Even More About Zwanze Day from Side Project Cellar:
Cantillon is an incredible brewery in Brussels, Belgium that brews traditional lambic. They are actually world-renowned as one of the very best Lambic brewers in the world. Definitely a brewery that Side Project, along with several other brewers, respects and looks up to! Cantillon started Zwanze Day several years ago. According to several online sources, "Zwanze" is Flemish for a Joke. They wanted to brew a beer that was fun, and perhaps used non-traditional ingredients that you wouldn't often find in Cantillon beers. Every year, they change the recipe for the Zwanze beer. This year, The Zwanze keg is a "Wild Brussels Stout." Cantillon is a small, family-run operation in Belgium so the amount of Cantillon Zwanze is very limited. They, along with the help of their distributor Shelton Brothers, choose specific accounts to send 1 Zwanze keg to for Zwanze Day every year. And, every account that receives a keg taps it at the exact same time and we do a worldwide Zwanze toast!!!! Our tapping time in St. Louis is 2pm on Saturday, Sept. 19th. (Tapping time in Brussels is 9pm.) The Side Project Cellar is the only place in Missouri that was chosen to host a Zwanze Day. We are so honored and excited.
