The Community Development provides the following services:
- Business assistance including setting up a business, locating real estate for business, developing real estate for business, addressing on-going business needs, and public relations.
- Residential Housing assistance including identifying resources for home repair and other housing matters.
- Keeping you informed about Maplewood through The Maple Leaf Newsletter, a bi-monthly newsletter, and the City of Maplewood website, E-mail Blasts, Event Listings and Facebook!
- Managing the Design and Review Board, which includes helping residents and business owners get their applications for the Design and Review Board ready and working to ensure the review process goes smoothly. We work directly with the building inspector to help expedite the issuance of a building permit.
The City of Maplewood Community Development Department covers a wide range of responsibilities and initiatives within the City of Maplewood:

Business assistance including working with business owners to set-up a business, addressing on-going needs and public relations. This includes but is not limited to working through zoning issues, assisting with grants and tax credit programs and carving out a PR plan for an opening or promotion.
- Managing the Downtown Maplewood Special Business District which includes: creating monthly SBD agendas and meeting packets for commissioners, business recruitment, budget development, branding and advertising, event development planning and management.
- Editor of The Maple Leaf Newsletter.
- Manager of the City of Maplewood Website and all social media.
- Develops, plans and organizes the Maplewood City events including: Women Making History, Grow Maplewood, The ArtsWalks, Coffee Crawls and Let Them Eat Art.
- Continually develops new events and initiatives to help make Maplewood a shopping, dining and entertainment destination and a great place to live.
