Historic Wednesdays posts a day late for a special reason:
January 20th, 1961: Fifty years ago today President John F. Kennedy was sworn into office.
During his campaigning for president, Senator John F. Kennedy visited Maplewood.
We only have one photograph, taken as he was driven across the railroad tracks at Greenwood and Sutton. Many people lined the streets to see him as he made his way through Maplewood, smiling and waving to the crowds.
Visit the Kennedy Library for More Information
We do not have an exact date on this photograph but have reason to believe it was taken in 1960.
